The eight and the final season of Game of Thrones is upon us. and as most of hardcore GOT fans seen that HBO has picked up courage to get out of the main plot that was written by George R.R. Martin in his books A Song Of Fire And Ice as the seasons progressed. as they started out as minor changes here and there, and as the action on the small screen caught to the happenings of those in the books, inevitable and significant changes needed to be made. but not for the fun of it as Benioff & Weiss has made those changes to help shorten the stories to its core so it can fit on a 10 episode season, and other to simply make the narrative digestible.
Now let’s look at 10 of the major differences from the entire series. Reader be warned major spoilers ahead!.
1. The Red Wedding
In the Book: Rob’s wife was Jeyne Westerling, and she did not accompany rob to the red wedding, as she stayed in Riverrun to avoid any tension caused by her presence. Westerling and Rob have tried without success getting pregnant. and after the red wedding occurred she was pardoned by the Iron Throne, and was guarded after that for 2 years to make sure she doesn’t give birth to an heir from Robb Stark.
On the Show: Robb’s wife in the series was Talisa Maegyr from Volantis, and she does get pregnant and she was by Robb’s side in his final hours as hers, while both of them and their unborn child was slaughtered.
2. Lady Stoneheart
In the Book: after being murdered at the red wedding, Catelyn Stark is brought back to life by Beric Dondarrion, the same way Melisandre got resurrected, by trading his life for hers, where Catelyn will comeback with a zombie like form as losing the ability to speak she had an enormous hunger for revenge, and took the name Lady Stoneheart.
On the Show: lady Catelyn dies a definite death, Lady Stoneheart arc was never mentioned or planned to exist in the series. even though the fans expressed their dismay.
