Warner Bros. is ambitious when it comes to announcing projects, especially those of the DCEU, as it always updates the official slate for the upcoming DC films, with new projects coming and old ones being scrapped-off, and others that are still actively developed but with changes and delays coming in the way of them being released to the audience, and next we bring you the list of the upcoming DCEU movies that are in a state of active Development.
The Flash solo outing was meant for a March 2018 release, but DCEU have always struggled with its planning, where it removed The Flash from the scheduled release slate without setting a new date, due to the sudden departure of Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa’s as directors back in 2016. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Spider-Man: Homecoming and Game Night), The directing partners, signed on to take point on the film that will be written by King Arthur’s Joby Harold, and like the mentioned struggles of DC Extended Universe, the movie is facing delays and won’t start filming until later this year, if everything worked according to plans at Warner Bros. which will have The Flash Have a 2021 release. Ezra Miller the actor playing Barry Allen have put the fans hearts at ease, saying, “Nothing is ever certain in this world, but as certain as things get, we’re making a f****** crazy-dope Flash movie.”
Green Lantern Corps
Warner Bros. original plans was to launch their own shared superhero universe back in 2011 with Martin Campell’s Green Lantern, with Ryan Reynolds wearing the ring, and it was a massive flop, both commercially and critically, and that made DC reboot the franchise within the already established DCEU with Green Lantern Corps, with Green Lantern Comicbook writer to write the movie’s script and produce it, alongside the rumors of Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s Christopher McQuarrie to direct, whereas he replied that he is open to directing as long as the story is good, but other than that no one is officially attached to this project, although it slated for a July 2020 release, it’s no longer abiding to that date.
Justice League Dark
One of the most obscure properties that Warner Bros. is giving a big screen treatment to is Justice League Dark, an adaptation of DC comic by the same name that follows a superhero team that protects the world from mystical, magical and supernatural threats. Guillermo Del Toro and Doug Liman were attached, each at a certain time were set to direct the film that has the name Dark Universe. Even though there is no significant progress attached to this film, but Warner Bros. is trying to get it off the ground.
The idea of a solo Batgirl movie was the brain child of Avenger’s director Joss Whedon, as he brought up with Warner Bros. and they liked the idea and eventually was put on the DCEU slate, but unfortunately things didn’t work for both parties, cause he released his attachment of both Writer and director back in February 2018, he was reportedly going to adapt The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!, but after his leave, Warner Bros is eyeing a female director for the chair. And Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) will pen the script for Batgirl.
